The Airdrie Legion is now running a Thursday night bingo.  They could really use some help and have asked if any parents would be willing to help either “on-call” or on a periodic basis.  They are looking for volunteers from 17:00-21:30 on Thursdays.  Even if you could only volunteer occasionally, they would appreciate the help.

Please contact Heather Undershute (Parent’s Committee Board Treasurer) if you are willing to help out.

How the Legion Poppy Fund helps veterans and their families.

January 24, 2011 in Royal Canadian Legion, volunteering

Just before Rememberance day, the Airdrie Army Cadets helped the Airdrie Royal Canadian Legion (#288) by volunteering to help with sales for the Poppy  Fund.  I found a couple of posts about where the money was going and thought that cadets might like to see how their volunteering is helping others in the community.

The presentation was made to Dorothy at the Bethany Care facility in Airdrie with Dorothy’s daughter Diane looking on.  It is so nice to see the money raised from the Poppy Fund helping veterans and their families!

Cadets helping the community

October 16, 2010 in Cadet Recognition, Notices, Royal Canadian Legion, volunteering

Certified General AccountantsThanks to OCdt Taylor and all the cadets who helped out with today’s events.

This morning several cadets were part of the color guard for the graduation of 417 of the Certified General Accountants of Alberta held at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta. This is their largest class in 49 years and they had arranged for cadets from another corps, but when they backed out, OCdt Taylor took several cadets out to Banff to be part of their ceremony.  By all accounts, they did great.

Also, this evening, OCdt Taylor and many of the Airdrie Army Cadets helped out with the Airdrie Legion’s Awards night.   The cadets were a huge help and it was quite appreciated by the Legion members and staff that I talked to.
