Just to let parents who have kids at Vernon, or had them there last year, they are finally catching up with their photos.  They now have most of the 2010 photos posted and are almost up to date with this year (2011).  Hopefully, they will keep it up!

It is interesting to see what they do there.

Summer Camp Movement Orders

July 6, 2011 in Notices, Summer Camp

Movement orders should be coming very soon.  Capt. Mark says that she has received over 25 emails in the last 24 hours (a few were me I admit).

Do not worry, your child has not been forgotten and will get to camp even though it is last minute.  Last week, one cadet got his orders Friday night and left Sunday.  Personally, I have told my son (who’s camp starts Monday) to be packed and ready for Saturday morning, although I suspect he won’t leave that early.

Capt. Mark is working on it and has called, emailed and done everything that she can.  The ACO is aware of this.  Last night, Capt Mark received 2 orders and the cadets were promptly notified.  She promises to let cadets know as soon as she knows anything.

Here is the general travel information that we received for Vernon.

[Ed: To give an idea of how much notice you sometimes get, my son just go his travel information Wednesday (July 6) night and will leave from Deerfoot Mall for Vernon at 1000 on Saturday.]

Vernon Cadet Camp

April 13, 2010 in Cadets Canada, Training

Well, it is a bit to late for  Army Cadet  summer training applications, but with summer coming fast (I say through the snow), I came across a great video of the Vernon Royal Canadian Army Cadet Summer Training Camp for those cadets hoping to go there this summer.

Not only is Canadian Army Cadet camp is free for selected cadets, they are also paid per week at camp.  In addition to making a litlle money cadets get the oppertunity to do a wide variety of activities including cycling, bushcraft, band, marksmanship, drill, and leadership.
