2011 Stampede Parade

Banff Cadets marching in The 1949 Calgary Stampede ParadeSeveral of the Airdrie Army Cadets will be in the 2011 Stampede Parade in a group consisting of a combined Tri Service Military/Pipe Cadet Band, Color Guard and Rifle Drill Team.  Here are the 2011 Stampede Parade Operation Orders.

For the Stampede Parade, the PRACTICES are MANDATORY. They will be held on June 20,27 and July 4 from 1830-2100 at Mewata Armories

July 8 0600-1600 cadets will be dropped off at Crescent Heights High School and bussed to Parade Location.  Cadets are to be in Full Uniform.

More details to follow, once the cadets have their first practice
Car Pooling is up to the parents/cadets.
Lunch and drinks will be provided.

July 8 – Calgary Stampede Parade – Possible – To be determined

July 17, 18 – possibly helping the Airdrie Legion at Airdrie Air Show

Aug 6 – Airdrie Nose Creek Show and Shine

Airdrie Army Cadets ACR Update and this week’s parade

Just a reminder that the Airdrie Army Cadets will be at the Genesis Place Field House on Wednesday 1 June from 1800-2100, all badges MUST be sewn on correctly and all cadets MUST have a proper Haircut.

Today is the last day to RSVP for the ANNUAL, please do so to Capt. Petcoff.

We have only 5 people who have signed up with Bev to bring snacks to the ACR so far.  All families need to bring a square,cookie,dessert,fruit, veggie or meat platter.  Please let Bev MacLeod know what you are bringing as she will be organizing the refreshment table after the ACR.

Lunch will be provided on Sunday for all Army Cadets. The Cadets are to wear civilian clothing with their parade boots on Sunday and will change into their uniforms by 1200 on Sunday so please send their uniform with your child.

All Airdrie Army Cadets should be at Genesis Place no later then 0955 on 5 June 2011.

30 March 2011- Regular night, summer dress

2 April 2011- 0900-1630 Ralph McCall school MANDATORY TRAINING (we need to catch up on all the lessons that have been missed due to school closures) Please bring a lunch, summer dress (extra pair of shoes for gym) Kit check for next exercise also, PLEASE BRING YOUR KIT!

6 April 2011- CRUX Climbing center 1800-2100 car pool by Airdrie COOP, meet at 1745.  Same rules apply, please do not contact me for your child to get a ride, they can call their section commander or meet at pick up point.

All parents must fill out a waiver before their child participates, (this was emailed to parents).  Capt Mark will also have some with me at cadets on Wednesday.  Please be careful when reading about helmets, cadets must bring their own helmet if you want them to use one.

8-10 April 2011- ALFORD LAKE EXERCISE, meet at Ag building at 1645, pick up at 1430 on Sunday the 10 April.  Cadets will be sleeping inside, however we are NOT getting any kit from the military this weekend so cadets must bring their own SLEEPING BAG!

13 April 2011- Regular cadet night, PARENTS meeting.

We should be finding out about summer camp soon, I will let you know.

Since the Airdrie Army Cadets parade in a school gym, we are expected to follow the school rules. This includes not wearing dirty outdoor shoes in the gym. In bad weather, please make sure to carry your oxfords into the school and change into them once you are at the school.
Cadets caught wearing wet or dirty footwear on parade may have to remove them and parade in their socks.

Cadets Crossfield Pete Knight Days Parade – June 19th

Airdrie Royal Canadian Army Cadets (Calgary Highlanders) on paradeAs part of Pete Knight Days, the Airdrie Army Cadets will be participating in the Crossfield Parade on June 19th.  The parade starts on Main Street and makes its way around town.

Cadets are asked to be at the Crossfield Community Hall by 900 for a pancake breakfast.  The parade starts at 11, and they should be done with the event by 1200.  There will be a lunch event for the cadets after the parade at Runciman’s house.  Cadets should bring an extra change of clothes to wear after the parade.

Every June, the Alberta town of Crossfield hosts the Pete Knight Days. Named after Peter Charles “Pete” Knight who was a World Champion Rodeo Bronc Rider, the event is fun for the whole family. Festivities include a parade, rodeo, fireworks, pancake breakfasts and more. Events are held at the Pete Knight Arena and other locations in Crossfield, AB.  This annual June event was named after Peter Charles “Pete” Knight, a World Champion Rodeo Bronc Rider. In the 1930s, Knight became known as “King of the Cowboys.”

Annual Ceremonial Review Update

June 13th will be the Airdrie Royal Canadian Army Cadets Annual Ceremonial Review.  This is a MANDATORY event.

Cadets will meet at the Mewata Armoury at 9am.

Airdrie Army Cadets march on the parade at 1345.  The parade is open and free to all family.

Following the Annual Ceremonial Review, all parents (2 per family) are able to attend the  Airdrie Army Cadet Mess Dinner. This is a sit down, 3 course meal.  Cadet meals will be paid for by the corps.  Due to seating limits, this event is open to ONLY PARENTS, 2 PER FAMILY.  Each parent ticket is $27.50 and can be payable in CASH to the cadet corps between the 19 May and the 9 June.  There is a limited number of tickets, first come first served.

This dinner starts at 5pm and ends at approx 8pm.  Dress is formal.  This will be held at Mewata Armouries (the same place as theAnnual Ceremonial Review).
