Airdrie Army Cadets Bottle Drive

The Airdrie Army Cadets going on the Vimy trip next year will be having a bottle drive to help raise funds for the trip on May 27th, 2012.

Anyone wishing to help out is welcome to drop off their bottles at the school parking lot during cadets on Wednesday, May 23rd or at the Airdrie Legion parking lot on May 27th.

If neither of these times work, but you wish to donate, please contact Leanne Bruneau or Linda Condon to arrange something else.

This trip will be a great experience for the cadets and any help in getting them there is certainly appreciated!

Casino – Feb 6 & 7, 2012

August 6, 2011 in Notices, volunteering

Airdrie Highlanders Royal Canadian Army Cadets Fundraiser CasinoWell, it is official.  The Airdrie Army Cadets have been slotted in for a casino shift on Febuary 6 & 7, 2012 at Century Casino (formally Frank Sissions).

This is our most important fund raiser and we will need lots of volunteers, so please mark this on your calendars!  Unfortunately, it is “over 18 only”, so we will need lots of parent volunteers!  We will start signing up volunteers once cadets starts.

It is things like this that make it possible to pay for many of the things that make our corps so great!

We will probably need volunteers at 10:30 and 18:30 each day.   More info to follow.

Christmas Potluck and Silent Auction – Sunday, December 12th from 5 – 8 PM

December 2, 2010 in Donations, Events, Notices, Parents Committee

For those of you who have not gotten set up on the email list, here is a quick note about the Christmas Potluck and Silent Auction from the Parent’s Committee President, Lorna Charlton:

—————————————————————————————————

Hello Everyone

This is just a friendly reminder that our Christmas Potluck will be held next Sunday, December 12th from 5 – 8 PM, at the Airdrie Legion. An invitation was sent home with your cadets, and we would like to remind you to RSVP – no later than December 5th – to  Beverlie.  [Ed: If you do not have her contact information, you can leave a comment on this page and we will try to get it forwarded on to Beverlie.]  Thank you Beverlie for your assistance with this, this year.

We have had a sign up sheet for potluck items – and we still require quite a few items. We are asking that your dish be enough to feed 8-10 people. Please mark your serving dishes and serving utensils to ensure that you get the items you brought back. The parent committee will be supplying the beverages, coffee, tea, punch and water. We will also supply the paper napkins, plates and eating utensils.

Items still needed for the potluck are:
Veggies & dip or fruit & dip – 3 spaces
Cheese Tray – 2 spaces
Rolls (3 dozen) – 1 space
Salads - 3 spaces
Meat dishes (chili, meatballs, deli tray) – 5 spaces
Miscellaneous side dishes – 4 spaces
Turkey – 1 space
Ham – 1 space
Roast beef - 2 spaces
Desserts – 5 spaces
Condiments (salt pepper pickles butter ect) - 2 spaces

In addition to potluck, we still need some items for door prizes, and silent auction items. All of the money raised goes towards helping fund the cadets in some of their extra-curricular activities. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. We will be holding our monthly parent meeting next Wednesday night, and will have the sign up sheet for the potluck and silent auction there as well.

I thank you in advance for all of your help and support. If it was not for the great support of all our parents and volunteers, we would not have one of the most successful cadet corps within southern Alberta!!

Best regards,
Lorna Charlton

Falcons MC Request Help With a Ride to Support Our Troops

March 10, 2010 in Events, volunteering

The Falcons Motorcycle Club is made up of currently serving or retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

They have requested 10 to 20 cadets to help with their B.E.S.T. (Bikers Everywhere Supporting our Troops) poker run on May 15, 2010 in support of our troops and several great charities.  In return, a portion of the procedes will be donated to the Airdrie Army Cadets.  The cadets will be supervised and will be helping at checkpoints along the ride.  They will not be helping anywhere that there is alcohol.

The Falcons MC conducts charitable events such as the Motorcycle Poker rides and other events to support military charities across Canada. The Falcons MC Support T- Shirts and support gear are sold to allow them to continue to run events to raise these funds for registered Military charities and Military support agencies.  They  raise funds for charities that support Military Troops who are currently serving and their families. The Falcons MC also supports Veteran organizations or Charities that help Children.
