Worker Needed This Weekend

Diann Marchessault who works at Green Acres Kennel is looking for a responsible worker for a few shifts this weekend.

The Kennel is located in Crossfield and transportation to and from the site will need to be arranged. An extra worker is required on Saturday from 3-6PM and on Sunday from 8:30-12:30 and 3-6.

This opportunity is available to senior cadets who are not attending this weekend’s FTX to Wainwright. The pay is minimum wage — $9.40 per hour. The worker must be available for all shifts and be comfortable working with dogs and performing kennel yard duties. There will be adult staff on site, as well as Dean Marchessault but Diann herself will not be there.

Name Tags

Name tags were handed out at parade last week. If you were absent, it may already be waiting for you!

Your New Parent’s Committee

After last night’s Airdrie Army Cadets Parent’s Committee AGM, the 2012-2013 Parent’s Committee is:

I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who worked so hard to make this a great year and to say that the new board will definitely need volunteers to help out!  If you can help out in some way, please talk to the board!  Please remember that great volunteers is one of the things that makes the Airdrie Army Cadets such an amazing corps!

Seminar on the United Nations and International Affairs (SUNIA)

This group would like to invite all interested cadets to consider attending one of their seminars this summer. Please be advised that this trip IS NOT FREE! The cost to attend is $550 although there are some ways to receive some funding to attend. Some of the highlights of this week away include:

  • Experience an internationally-oriented program designed especially for students of your age (15-19).
  • Explore the dynamics of international affairs with diplomats from the United Nations and Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
  • Politick and debate as official representatives of U.N. Member Nations at a Security Council simulation.
  • Take a closer look at global issues with representatives of international non-governmental organizations.
  • Meet 80 students and 13 counselors from all over Canada.
  • Canoe, hike, and enjoy the beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Kit Check — May 2

The 3016 Airdrie Army Cadet parade on May 2, 2012 will be summer dress.

All cadets must bring their kits to be checked for the upcoming FTX on the weekend.

Cadets MUST have their kits checked to be able to attend.

Vimy Trip Bottle Drive

Airdrie Army Cadets Bottle Drive

The Airdrie Army Cadets going on the Vimy trip next year will be having a bottle drive to help raise funds for the trip on May 27th, 2012.

Anyone wishing to help out is welcome to drop off their bottles at the school parking lot during cadets on Wednesday, May 23rd or at the Airdrie Legion parking lot on May 27th.

If neither of these times work, but you wish to donate, please contact Leanne Bruneau or Linda Condon to arrange something else.

This trip will be a great experience for the cadets and any help in getting them there is certainly appreciated!

No Cadets — April 25, 2012

Just a reminder that there will be no regular Wednesday night cadets on April 25, 2012 as we do not have the school.

All other cadet events for this week are still on — this includes the sports competition in Red Deer for those participating as well as running the table at the Airdrie Home and Lifestyle Show on the weekend. This will include selling bags of firewood as a fundraiser for cadets attending the Vimy trip next spring!

 

Music Level Testing — April 21

All band members have music level testing on Saturday, April 21 at the Tecumseh Armory.

The address of HMCS Tecumseh is 1898, 24 Street SW Calgary.

Cadets attending this event need to be dropped off at 12:30.

No Cadets – April 4 2012
