PO 401 – Drill (306 Kb)

Military foot drill is an important aspect of being a cadet. Drill develops sharpness, team spirit (esprit de corps), teamwork, physical coordination, and personal discipline. In green star cadets learn basic drill such as drill at the halt and how to march.

PO 402 – Fundamental Training (508 Kb)

The fundamentals, or the basics, of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets, provide you with general information regarding the different aspects of the army cadet program. In green star, cadets learn the dress regulations, rank structure and badges worn by army cadets, some history and how to address an NCO and officer.

PO 403 – Bushcraft (381 Kb)

The skills and knowledge of Bushcraft are some of the key elements in the Army Cadet training program. Many of the greatest challenges and rewards in this program will occur in adventurous outdoor training. In green star, cadets learn how to pack for camping trips, lighting stoves and lanterns, constructing a shelter, lighting a fire, tying knots, and much more.

PO 405 – Map & Compass (113 Kb)

Learning how to use a map effectively is not only essential to army cadet training but could be a life saving skill. In green star, army cadets learn how to identify the symbols on a map, take care of a map and find specific locations on a map.

PO 406 – Marksmanship (148 Kb)

Marksmanship is the skill of shooting a rifle and hitting a paper target in the desired spot. Army cadets use the Daisy 853C air rifle to learn marksmanship, which is a skill that takes much focus and development. In green star, cadets learn the safety precautions, parts of the air rifle, principles of marksmanship and how to fire the air rifle.

PO 410 – Public Speaking (15 Kb)

Army cadets learn many skills that allow them to develop confidence in themselves and prepare them to teach other cadets later in their cadet careers. In green star, cadets learn the basic elements of preparing a speech and must deliver a 3-minute speech.

PO 411 – Leadership (10 Kb)

Army cadets have always prided themselves on their ability to demonstrate good leadership. This is a skill that will serve you well all your life, regardless of the career that you might choose. In green star, cadets learn the first aspect of leading a group, how to be a good follower.

PO 412 – Citizenship (50 Kb)

Citizenship is not the physical aspect of holding Canadian Citizenship but rather understanding Canadian values. In green star, cadets learn the basics of being a Canadian citizen and performing community service.

PO 413 – Physical Fitness (274 Kb)

As one of the aims of the army cadet program, fitness is also an aspect of living a healthy lifestyle. Being physically fit will allow you to approach activities with confidence and energy, and you’ll be better prepared to participate in cadet training. In green star, cadets participate in the Army Cadet Fitness Test (ACFT). Cadets can achieve bronze, silver or gold level.
