You will start to hear term that mean absolutely nothing to you at the moment but your child will start speaking to you in these terms. For example: “Mom got a FTX this weekend and I can’t find my FMP and where’s my combats cause we’re making hoochies and get IMPS”
Here are a few meanings to the military abbreviations:
ACR – Annual Ceremonial Review (Annual Final Parade)
CATOs – Cadet Administrative and Training Orders
CO – Commanding Officer – Captain Tanya Mark is the CO of the Airdrie Army Cadets
CI – Civilian Instructor
CV – Civilian Volunteer (this could be you! Please see the Volunteering page for more info).
DND – Department of National Defense
FMP- field messaging pad
FTX – Field Training Exercise – The cadets go out in the ‘field’ to practice what they are learning.
Hoochie - lean-to made in the woods (another bizarre thing the cadets love)
IMP- individual meal packages (also known as rations and for some bizarre reasons kids love these).
LHQ – Local Head Quarters (Ralph McCall School (1505 1 AVE NW, Airdrie, Alberta T4B 2E6))
Parent’s Committee – The parent committee is ALL parents of the cadets. We encourage and support our kids. As well we also support and respect all the staff. See the Parent’s Committee page for more info.
Star Level – As cadets pass each level of instruction, they obtain different star levels. The first level they can achieve is green, then red, silver, and gold, {NSCE -National Star Certification Exam}.

TrgO - Training Officer
SupO - Supply Officer
AdmO – Administration Officer
